Call for Submission of Interest – DIAC Rebrand (Call is now closed)

Clarification Note.

DIAC is not encouraging pro-bono work. Compensation for the design work will be offered to interested parties.

The Design Industry Advisory Committee (DIAC) is seeking to rebrand the current wordmark of DIAC. DIAC is calling for interested design companies or individuals in Ontario, with a strong knowledge of branding and visual identity design, to design the new visual identity/wordmark for DIAC and develop basic visual identity guidelines/standards.

The project compensation will be discussed with interested parties. In case DIAC also seeks to modify its name, the fees for re-naming will be negotiated separately with the selected proponent.

The selected proponent will be given further information regarding the requirements of the new wordmark and the potential renaming, in a separate detailed briefing.

Design Brief

The task within this design brief is to refresh the current wordmark, in favour of a wordmark that is typographically appealing, unique, and timeless. We are not looking for an additional logo besides the wordmark. A graphic element may be part of the redevelopment, but it is not considered to be a standalone logo and is not a requirement of this design brief task.

The wordmark must function in black and white, colour, and as a negative version (e.g. white on a colourful background, etc.). Currently DIAC is using Teal (PMS 2397) and Dark Grey (PMS 419) as primary colours. It is not part of this design brief to suggest a new colour palette.

About The Design Industry Advisory Committee

The Design Industry Advisory Committee (DIAC) is a think tank and cross-disciplinary research group established in 2001. The activities of DIAC promote the strategic value of design and the contribution of designers from all disciplines to economic, social and environmental goals.

The Design Industry Advisory Committee (DIAC) was established by the City of Toronto in 2001. DIAC's purpose is to leverage Ontario’s design capability to address economic, social and environmental priorities. In 2004, DIAC completed its first major research study, ‘Design Matters: DIAC Design Industry Study’. The research identified a strategic plan with four critical action steps designed to transform Ontario’s design workforce into a strategic design hub for North America.
